Humanitarian Projects/Blood Drive
If
you participate in any type of service project with your family,
through work, or through your child’s activities, please let us know.
Our PTSA is eligible for a Humanitarian Award from Florida PTA for any
projects our members participate in outside of school. Also, if you
donate blood at any Donor Center for the Florida Georgia Blood Alliance,
please tell them that you wish to donate in the name of Mandarin Middle
School (Account #2045). Your blood will help someone in need, and your
donation will count toward a Blood Drive Award for our school.
MMS PTSA collects used eyeglasses to send to third world countries and used cell phones to send to Hubbard House. Please send in your donations any time. Boxes will be located by the main office.
Thank you for your participation in our past projects this year:- School supplies drive -- In the month of September, we collected school supplies to be distributed to Mandarin Middle School students who need them.
Mr. Rogers Sweater Drive -- Once again this November, we joined efforts by WJCT to honor the memory of Fred Rogers with its seventh annual Mister Rogers Neighborhood Sweater Drive. Approximately 75 contributions of new and gently used sweaters, jackets and blankets were donated to St. Vincent’s Mobile Outreach Ministry, the Clara White Mission and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Across Duval County, The Mr. Rogers Sweater Drive was a resounding success again this year! Nine local non-profit organizations benefited from the drive. Over 22,000 items were collected from all the drop off points in the community - and 15 DCPS schools alone donated over 9,000 items! THANK YOU for your generosity!
2nd Annual Book S.W.A.P. (Students With A Purpose -- For every five books that students donated to this book drive from January 30 through February 1, they will be able to choose two from the donations during the school day February 8-9. This project was undertaken in partnership with the English/Language Department and Ms. McCorduck's Service Learning class. THANK YOU for your participation!
